Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (AMU)

The Academy of Performing Arts in Prague is the largest art school in the Czech Republic with approximately 1,500 students. It offers its students the possibility to develop their talents and to deepen their specific personal expression in theatre, film, music and dance.

The mission of the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague (hereinafter also AVU or the Academy) is the teaching of fine arts and the development of artistic thinking in relation to history, the present and the future.

Czech University of LIfe Sciences in Prague (CZU)

The history of the school began with the establishment of the agricultural department at the Czech Technical University (ČVŠT) in 1906 by a decree of Emperor Franz Joseph of 26 October.  Today the university has 8 faculties.

Czech Technical University in Prague (CTU)

The school is one of the largest and oldest technical universities in Europe. At present, CTU has eight faculties (civil, mechanical, electrical, nuclear and physical engineering, architecture, transport, biomedical engineering, and information technology) with over 18,000 students.

Charles University (CU)

Czech and Roman King Charles IV founded a university with four faculties (liberal arts, medical, legal and theological) by a charter dated 7 April 1348. Today the university has 17 faculties and more than 50,000 students.

The University of Chemistry and Technology, Prague (UCT)

The University of Chemical Technology in Prague is a natural centre of first-class education and research in the fields of chemistry and food science. It consists of four faculties: the Faculty of Chemical Technology, the Faculty of Environmental Technology, the Faculty of Food and Biochemical Technology, and the Faculty of Chemical Engineering.

Academy of Arts, Architecture, and Design in Prague (UMPRUM)

The Academy of Arts, Architecture, and Design in Prague was founded in 1885.  The school is divided into the departments of architecture, design, liberal arts, applied arts, graphic arts and the department of theory and history of art. The individual departments are further subdivided into studios according to their professional specialization, led by recognized personalities of the Czech art scene.

Prague University of Economics and Business (VŠE)

The Prague University of Economics and Business, founded in 1953, is the largest public university of economics in the Czech Republic. The VŠE is divided into 6 faculties, which offer a wide range of Bachelor's, Master's, PhD and MBA study programmes. More than 13,000 students currently study at the five faculties.

Janáček Academy of Performing Arts (JAMU)

The Janáček Academy of Performing Arts has had a fruitful history of more than seventy years, which has shaped several generations of outstanding artists. Its establishment marked the culmination of Leoš Janáček's years-long efforts to establish a university of the arts in the second-largest city in the country.

Masaryk University (MU)

The University was founded in 1919. Today it has 10 faculties - Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Economics and Administration, Faculty of Science, Faculty of Social Studies, Faculty of Sports Studies, Faculty of Pedagogy, Faculty of Informatics, Faculty of Arts and now also Faculty of Pharmacy. There are 30 000 students studying at the University.

Mendel University in Brno (MENDELU)

Mendel University in Brno trains experts in agriculture, forestry, economics, horticulture and regional development. The university has 5 faculties and almost 9000 students.

University of Veterinary Sciences Brno

The University of Veterinary Sciences Brno was established on 12 December 1918 by Act No. 76/1918 Coll. on the establishment of the Czechoslovak State Veterinary College in Brno.  From 1994, the college was called the Veterinary and Pharmaceutical University of Brno. It had 3 faculties. After the departure of the Faculty of Pharmacy to Masaryk University, it has been called the University of Veterinary Sciences Brno since 1 April 2021.

University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice (USB)

There are 3 institutes at VŠTE. Institute of Technical-Technology, Institute of Corporate Strategy and Institute of Expertise and Valuation. The school is closely connected with the corporate sphere.

University of Ostrava (UO)

The university was founded on 28 September 1991, based on the previously existing Faculty of Education. There are 8700 students studying at the university. In addition to six faculties, the university also has an Institute for Research and Applications of Fuzzy Modelling.

VSB - Technical University of Ostrava (VSB-TUO)

VŠB - Technical University Ostrava has been connecting technical, economic, natural science and art disciplines for more than 170 years. It has 7 faculties and over 11 000 students study here.

University of Hradec Králové (UHK)

The spectrum of educational activities includes the fields of economics, informatics, and management at the Faculty of Informatics and Management, teaching, artistic and linguistic disciplines at the Faculty of Education, natural sciences and engineering fields at the Faculty of Science, social sciences and humanities at the Philosophical Faculty.

College of Polytechnics Jihlava (VSPJ)

The College of Polytechnics Jihlava is the only public higher education institution in the Vysočina Region. The polytechnic designation means that it is not divided into faculties, only into specialist departments. There are six of them.

Technical University of Liberec (TUL)

That is the only university in the Liberec Region. It has seven faculties and one professional institute. Despite the name, they do not only focus on technical fields, but they also educate economists, teachers, architects and other experts.

Palacký University Olomouc
(UP)

Palacký University in Olomouc (Universitas Palackiana Olomucensis) was founded in 1573 and with its almost 450 years of tradition, it is the second oldest university in the Czech lands after Charles University and the oldest in Moravia. At present, the UP consists of eight faculties, with almost 22,000 students.

Silesian University in Opava (SU)

After November 1989, the Silesian University in Opava was first established as two faculties of Masaryk University in Brno, and in 1991 these two faculties became the Silesian University in Opava. This public university currently has five units - 3 faculties and 2 university institutes. About 6500 students study here.

University of Pardubice (UPCE)

In 1950, the University of Chemistry in Pardubice was founded, later renamed the University of Chemical Technology. Based on the new statute of the school in 1991, two faculties were established: the Faculty of Chemical Technology and the Faculty of Territorial Administration. These laid the foundation for the current form of the University of Pardubice. Today the University has 7 faculties and about 7000 students.

University of West Bohemia (UWB)

It was founded in 1991. It was established by merging the former University of Engineering and Technology and the Faculty of Education. Today, it has 9 faculties and 11,000 students.

University of Jan Evangelista Purkyně (UJEP)

The university, like several other universities, was established by decree on September 28, 1991. Its base was the Faculty of Education in Ústí nad Labem. It has 8 faculties and more than 8500 students study here.

Tomas Bata University in Zlin (TBU)

Since 1960, a detached workplace of the Slovak Technical University was operating in Zlín (then Gottwaldov), where mainly chemical and engineering technology was taught. Nine years later, in 1969, the local university institute functioned as an independent Faculty of Technology of the Technical University. The independent University of Tomáš Bat'a was established on 1 January 2001.
